PCS Pocket Acorn Blog Hop

Welcome to the Paper Crafters Sampler “Pocket Acorn” Blog Hop featuring our 3D acorn template from the September issue of the Paper Crafters Sampler entitled,
Autumn Amdist”.

Just in time for autumn you can create this fun acorn and have it ready for the upcoming holidays.

This cute acorn is easy to assemble and fun to decorate. It can be used to hold candies, mints, nuts and many other things.  I plan to use it as a name tag for Thanksgiving dinner. I used the wax technique on the bottom part, embossed the cover, colored the stamp using the blender (tutorial to follow), cut a few leaves, and added a bow. What do you think of what I’ve created?

Be sure to visit all the talented design team members' blogs and please leave a comment.  They worked hard creating something different for all of you. Thank you for stopping by.  Enjoy!

Now, feel free to go back and take another look at Tiffany Bauer's acorn or select the “Click Here” button and hop on over to Karen Squires' blog, both very crafty gals.

PCS September 2012 ~ Autumn Amidst

It's the time of year when the landscape changes from the brilliant brights of summer, to the rich earthy colors of fall.

The September issue, "Autumn Amdist", offers project ideas to transition your paper crafting from summer to fall.  This issue also offers the newest template, a Acorn Pockets.

Here is a sneak peak of my project which is included in this month's issue:

Follow the Star

I cut the doily last night, putting wax paper over the die then the CS to make it easier to get all the tiny pieces out and it worked.  I looked at it and thought, I'm sure I can use it sooner or later. Well sooner than I thought... The Sweet Stop challenge has a sketch that was perfect for the doily.  I used blues thinking that baby Jesus would look good in dark blue and I could add a lighter blue.  The Poinsettia embossing folder gave it more of a holiday feel although I don't think Poinsettias come in blue, or do they?  Enjoy!

Poinsettia

First time participating in this challenge, Timeless Tuesday and I have the perfect Poinsettia stamp set from SU for my creation.  I was inspired by a card from Vicki and I plan to do a lot more with other shapes. I like the effect of piercing and shading the shape to create the form of the die.  I like the way it came out, hope you do too.  Enjoy!

A Christmas flower

I came across this challenge today which requires a technique called "Stamped Line Art".  I had no idea this was a technique, but it is something I've been doing for a long time, especially when creating my own papers.  I used the technique required from "Just Us Girls" and the sketch from Retro Sketches.  This is a beautiful stamp set from SU.  I used a retired DSP, one I like a lot and a little fuzzy flock in the center of the flower.  Enjoy!

Christmas time again

I love Christmas, it's my favorite Holiday and this year I want to be ready and enjoy the time with family and friends.  Since I'm working on a workshop, I decided to use Freshly Made sketch as an inspiration for one of my cards.  I used some retired and some active stamps and new Christmas paper.  Enjoy!
