Reason to Smile/Birthday

You have to see it to believe it! The DSP I created looks fantastic, almost like suede.  I added a few score lines to the blue bottom part, cut out two flowers and punched out some leaves using the Blossom Petal punch and stamp.  This Reason to Smile stamp set if very versatile and easy to add color to.  The sketch from PPA and ColourQ gave me the inspiration for this card.  Enjoy!

Summer Silhouettes/Birthday

A dynamic duo it is being able to combine The Paper Players and Dynamic Duos Challenges.  I wanted to use my new stamp set Summer Silhouettes and both the colors and sketch seemed to go well together.  I stamped the polka dots creating my own DSP, embossed the flowers/leaves and used a scrunched cling wrap dipped in shimmer paint to add some texture and shine to the flower panel.  A round sentiment with a shiny brad and a butterfly finished the card.  Enjoy!

A flower for you!

This was a stamp set that did not get my attention until I saw the card that Cindy Hall made.  My friend happened to have it and since she is at the SU convention, I get to keep it and use it until she gets back. :)
The was able to use it for the first time on the sketch from Freshly Made.  Giving a single flower in a vase to me is like saying "you are a special one" so I chose to use the leaves and the vase from two different stamps and created my own stamp.  I wasn't liking the plain background so I stamped the vase with the same ink color as the CS.  Enjoy!

All About the Sentiment

The Paper Players challenge this week is all about the sentiment, an important complement to a card and sometimes like in this case, the focal point. This retired DSP from SU has very pretty colors/patterns and since I didn't want to stamp the sentiment in black, it was a good choice.  I wanted to soften the white background of the sentiment so I stamped the outline of a leaf in Old Olive and the sentiment in Rich Razzleberry.  Enjoy!

Birthday Card

This birthday card is totally inspired by Linda.  When I saw her card I knew I would make one sooner or later but never thought it would be so soon.  When I saw the colors from ColourQ,  immediately I thought of Linda's card.  I cut an hexagon shape and using the negative, I stamped the background.  Used markers to color the flower and stamped a second one on Vellum for the butterfly.  I distressed the edges and the paper to make it look a little old.  Enjoy!

Having twins

A friend of my daughter's is having twins... a boy and a girl.  This is my daughter's dream pregnancy.  And how perfect it is that Dynamic Duos challenge colors this week are Baja Breeze and Pink Pirouette.  As for Friday Mashup, their challenge is banner or flag.  Mixed them both and made this card.  The letters are from a die cut by DIE-VERSIONS and they are the best.  The DSP I created with a Hero Art stamp and Baja Breeze ink.  I added some thread to the bow since that was the only thing I had close to Pink Pirouette.
Enjoy!

Happy Birthday

Rushing to make it on time before Freshly Made challenge closes.  Just made it!  I was trying to combine two challenges but it just didn't work for me.  The more I tried the less I liked the results. So I decided to finish the one with less time left and since I really liked the sketch from Freshly Made this week, I went for it.  Lots of prints but I like how they look together.  The flower I made using the 1 3/4 scallop punch and largest flower from Bojo Blossoms.  Enjoy!

"Fishy" Punch Art

This is the last Card Patterns challenge and it's sad to see them go.  Maybe they'll came back...keep checking.  But on the other hand, Friday Mashup has a cute animal punch challenge.  I joined them together to create this fun card.  I found this tutorial from Dee and it was too cute not to make.  I love everything related to the beach and found it appropriate to use a fish for my punch art card.  I think the card doesn't need an explanation but if you have any questions, feel free to email me and I will get back to you ASAP.  Enjoy!
And thanks to Dee for a great video tutorial.

Best wishes

The sketch from Retro Sketches and the colors from Dynamic Duos led me to create this simple but pretty card.  I embossed only the top portion of the card leaving the bottom for the sentiment.  I punched the flowers in red and used 2 for each flower making it pop a little more.  Added a white pearl in the center of each flower.  I first thought to use a Crumb Cake ribbon to blend with the back, but it got lost and it made the card look sad to me.  Instead I decided to use the white/red ribbon and I liked it better. Enjoy!

Lantern Project

I had so many ideas on how to create this lantern but I had to decide on one and this is what I chose.  I stamped on vellum paper using the Elements of Style set with Real Red ink from SU.  I cut the panels and used the reverse side on the outside to create a subtle effect.  I am going to make one for the 4th of July in red, white and blue and decorate it with stars and use a battery operated light.  Another Paper Crafters Sampler project, check it out.  Enjoy!
